The Alameda County Health Care Foundation, through its 3rd Annual Faith-Based Campaign led by Father James Matthews, Saint Benedict Catholic Church and Foundation Board member, along with ACMC Chaplain, Kay Landers, is conducting outreach regarding Measure A to church communities in the Oakland area.

    The Foundation is working with the Physician's Alliance for a speaker and has coordinated a table to be manned by volunteers on Saturday, February 28, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. onwards.

    The Foundation was able to provide thirty (30) packets containing information about Measure A to the church's Social Action Group that met on Sunday, February 8, 2004. There were thirty church leaders attending the event.

    Reverend Donna Allen was also looking into having a physician speak briefly to the congregation about Measure A on February 22, 2004.

    Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension-Oakland

    The Foundation met with Father Thomas Paris to request scheduling a physician to speak to the congregation. He referred the Foundation to the Cathedral's Senior Center who met on Thursday, February 12, 1004.

    Julie Jones, the Director of the Senior Center, confirmed that physicians would speak with the senior group in "table-hopping" style.

    Dr. Mini Swift of ACMC agreed to represent the hospital in this event.

    Shiloh Christian Fellowship-Oakland
    .
    Reverend David Kitely, as represented by Ms. Verleeta White, met with the Foundation on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 to discuss how Shiloh can help with outreach efforts with regards to Measure A.

    The Foundation was informed that materials distributed after a service is a possibility and will confirm the dates when this can be done.

    The Foundation has spoken with Reverend Thurston Callier regarding Measure A, and he was sent more information in the mail.
