Year-end Giving Tips

The gifts you give before December 31, 2007 will reduce the tax bill you pay on April 15, 2008.  Think strategically!

• Appreciated Securities are appreciated.  Donations of stocks, bonds, or shares of a mutual fund can be a very smart way to donate.   If you have held the securities for at least one year, you can deduct the full fair market value of the shares.
• Charge ahead.  Charges on your credit card by December 31, 2007 can affect this year’s tax burden but actual payment can occur in the next year.
• Make a Match – Many companies will match dollar for dollar (some higher) any contribution you make to the Foundation. Check with the Human Resources Department at your employer for forms or guidance.
• Remember loved ones – Memorial gifts are a wonderful way to keep the memory of a loved departed family member or friend alive.
