12th Annual Golf Classic a Huge Success

New sponsors and golfers from as far away as San Diego helped triple revenues

Golfers arrived from as far away as San Diego to participate in the Foundation’s 12th Annual Golf Classic. It would be an understatement to say that fun was had by one and all.

This year we moved the Golf Classic to the Sequoyah Country Club in the Oakland Hills. The reports of the beauty and the challenge of this course were not exaggerated. Under sunny skies with mid-70s temperatures 110 golfers played on the “fast” grass. Although there was an opportunity to win a brand new car from our friends at Good Chevrolet, no one was quite able to sink the hole-in-one on the designated prize hole.

We were also able to raise a record sum more than tripling last year’s amount with a record $81,000 in cash and in-kind items. Much of the success came as a result of attracting new corporate underwriters to our mission. Please see the list below.

First Place was won by the foursome of Mike Prescott, Mike Prescott, Jr., Shawn Danforth, and Mike Kerr all from the Charles M. Prescott Electric, the event’s Gold Sponsor. Second Place was won by George Gomez, Jim Sondecker, Chuck Harwell, and Christopher Lynn - all of the ACMC. Third Place was won by the foursome of Don White, Gary Hall, Cody Press, and Ben Pope.

For the third year in a row, Bruce Bauer of the ACHCF Board of Directors chaired the Golf Classic Committee and was instrumental in relocating the event to the new and successful venue.
