Foundation Update - Fall 2009
A Message From Cherlyn L. Spencer
Executive Director, Alameda County Health Care Foundation
As we enter into the holidays, I know many of us are thankful for our family, friends, employment, and, most of all, our health. This is why the Alameda County Health Care Foundation exists: to support our Alameda County residents who need the services of Alameda County Medical Center (ACMC) in time of need. As you know, we provide acute care at our Highland Hospital Campus, which also is the designated trauma center for the northern Alameda County; Fairmont provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation services; mental health services are provided at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and outpatient services are provided on our Highland Campus and in our free-standing clinics at Eastmont, Winton, and Newark.

The Prosthetic Clinic at ACMC has been in existence since the late 1970s on the Fairmont Campus. The Clinic is interdisciplinary and offers a full range of services for amputees. Patients are referred to the Prosthetic Clinic because of amputation either from traumatic injury, peripheral vascular disease, and/or diabetes with severe ischemia. The clinic has expertise with lower extremity loss, with upper extremity loss more uncommon.
This year’s Combined Charities Employee Campaign is underway!
